7 years of coaching experience
Adversity WI Volleyball 2 years, One Wisconsin Volleyball Madison 1 year, Capital Volleyball Academy in Madison 1 year, Midwest Penguins Volleyball Club 2 years, and 1 year with Wisconsin Premier. I have mainly coached national teams at the 15/16 age level that have won numerous tournaments and awards. My 16’s team at Midwest Penguins won the Sportsmanship Award at Nationals in Navy Pier in 2022.
I played one year at Alverno College, 2 years at Madison College, and 1 year at Carroll University.
I am a big believer that nothing is perfect and that we should always strive to be better with each rep, game, or match. While winning is ideal and motivating, it is not expected. We should always be putting in effort and work to achieve those goals. It will not be easy but it will be rewarding.
With every one of my teams, I have spent equal time on skill development and working on the mental aspect of the game. At a young age, it is especially important as an athlete to build confidence and learn how our mentality can affect our game. I spend a lot of time on activities that will challenge the athlete’s brain and critical thinking when it comes to the game of volleyball, and about being a team. It is important to me as a coach to make sure the girls know that there shouldn’t always be a negative connotation with losing or making a mistake during a game. The game of volleyball is never able to be accomplished by just one person. Not one person can pass, set, and hit the ball and earn the point by themselves. Team building and character building are the number one priority when working with young athletes.
I grew up in Green Bay, WI, and got my Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice at Madison College. I currently work as a police officer for the Village of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. I love where I work as I get to build relationships with people and learn about their lives. I have wanted to be a police officer for a long time, as I have gotten to see the impact that my father, who is also a police officer, has made on the community around him. I have the opportunity to help people who might be at their lowest and possibly save their lives. Knowing that I have made a difference in life no matter how big or small is what makes life worth it!
While I was in the process of transferring from Alverno to Madison College, I went through a total life transformation. I lost over 60 lbs and gained a love for health and fitness that I never imagined I would have. I knew it would only help my athletic career, and it absolutely did! I enjoy powerlifting and everything fitness. I consider this one of my greatest achievements, as I saw a goal and accomplished it on my own, no matter how difficult some days were. This experience is one I use frequently when I coach as an example of accomplishing the impossible. Many athletes do not realize their full potential until they have some sort of inspiration to find. I hope to be that for my athletes!
